INO AXIS

Preserving the body of his dead wife Leauh in honey, Eurythades continued the fevered romance of his betrothed. Honey bees nestled in her thoughts through her left ear's auditory meatus, leaving it open to the air so her spirit could come and go as it pleased. The honey smelled like his Leauh, only stronger, sweeter, gilded if a scent could gild. They refused separation, even in death.

Years later, the fates drooling with impatience, summoned a beast, brought about with dark magic like a spider of souls to the home of Leauh and Eurythades. Inoaxis was its name. It crawled in through her ear, devouring her eyes from the inside out in minutes, the bees in a day, her bones in a week, before sauntering back to Hades satiated.

Eurythades unable to remedy the body of his beloved Leauh, buried her in olive branches, human hair, lavender and charcoal.  Soon after, a madness burgeoned in him - the shadow of the beast Inoaxis. He burned his house to the ground and forsook his garments, sleeping naked in the leaves. He tore at his flesh. He pulled out his nails. He stuffed manure into his nostrils. Anything to rid him of the amber honey scent of his Leauh which followed him everywhere until finally he took his life with a dagger on the hardened burial mound of his beloved.
